I don’t believe that Justin Gatlin should be allowed to represent the United States in the Olympics. It is a total double standard sham. As we are condemning Russia for broad scale cheating in the last Olympics, yet, now we are sending a long term, two-time convicted doper to represent the USA Track & Field team.
It’s quite funny Justin Gatlin has stated that: “I’m not the kind of guy to cheat people of their money or let the fans down … that’s not what I do”
This is a funny quote as last time I checked;
• Gatlin cheated every single athlete who ever finished behind hi. in a race from the day you started using testosterone to the day to the day he was caught for it a second time in 2006. (As the first ban was in 2001).
• Every time he made a relay team until 2006, he cheated a clean athlete out of a place.
• Every time he stood on a podium and robbed a clean athlete of that moment.
• And the fact he NEVER ONCE apologised. Not to his fellow athletes. Not to the federation.amd Not to the fans.
To run 9.77 dirty is one thing. To do so again, being supposedly clean, at an age when no other man has got close, is hard believe.
Regardless of the bans, as a previous doper, he still holds the advantage. When you take anabolic steroids or testosterone, you get more nuclei and you get bigger muscles. If you take away the steroids, you lose the muscle mass, but the nuclei remain inside the muscle fibres. This is what allows thr muscle memory to give the extra edge.
Lets now quickly look at Gatlin’s coaching history:
Gatlin was coched by Trevor Graham, now banned for life after eight of his athletes – including Olympic sprint champions Jones and world 100m record holder Time Montgomery.
Gatlin’s current coach is Dennis Mitchell, if you didn’t know… Was once banned for two years after testing positive for testosterone.
It’s hard to give Gatlin much sympathy considering his choices and the convicted dopers he has surrounded and aligned himself with.
